Dog Walking

Before taking on a new client, I will come to visit your home to assesses your dog and see how we get along. It's a chance to get to know you and your dog and vice versa. This usually takes an hour and includes a free trial walk in your local area of up to 30 minutes, if I think that 's needed. It is important that your dog has up to date vaccinations. Your dog should be regularly wormed and treated for fleas and ticks. Additionally, you might also like for your dog to have a Kennel Cough vaccination as it's a nasty cough that is highly contagious and spreads quickly within a group.

Daily walk time pick ups each week day start at 8.15 - 9am and finish at 3.30 - 4.30pm. All pick ups and drop offs are free of charge and not included in the walking time. The walks are not a route march as this is not an ideal way to walk any pet dog and as walks are usually with other dogs, every dog needs to the get the chance to perform their breed specific natural behaviours (under supervision) to fully benefit from the outing.

The walk will include time to sniff and explore, play with friends, play fetch, swim or paddle if there is water nearby and sit for cuddles and chats to catch our breath.  You can specify what time of walk suits your dog and I should be able to accommodate you within 15 to 30 minutes of that time. My time options can work as follows:

  • If your dog is on a single walk per day option, your dog can be walked at any time between these times unless otherwise specified. The majority of dogs are walked between 11.30am - 3.30pm
  • If your dog is on a 2 walks per day option, your dog can be walked at 8.30am  & 4.30pm unless otherwise specified.

Your dog will be returned tired but exercised and mentally stimulated. I do towel dry all the pooches for their journey home so they don't drag too much of the "fun" through your house !  I also have a portable shower on board for those pooches who enjoy mud more than you would like. A side entrance or key to a back door also helps in damage limitation. You might consider installing a hot water tap at home for serial mud bathers and dirt magnets and I'll be happy to shower them down at home !!

On a personal note, things can happen during the day that will delay walks. Anything from dog injury, very dirty or wet dogs, a dog getting spooked to traffic issues and punctures to being locked out of a drop off because a key has not been left or owner has not returned with their dog ready for pick up on time. I will always endeavour to have your dog walked at the agreed time but some flexibility may be needed from time to time. If the weather is particularly hot, wet or snowy, I may need to adjust the walk time to be assured that I prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of all my dogs.

GROUP WALKS (up to 6 dogs)

Duration: 1 hour with free pick-up/drop-off

This is the ideal choice for the majority of dogs. Those who are highly sociable and amiable with other dogs (including dogs not met before) will enjoy meeting four-legged friends, new and old, for a run and play. Those with a high energy drive will get the opportunity to burn off excess energy whilst letting their hair down and not have to worry about sitting still. Those who like to get up to mischief can act the maggot with sticks, pine cones and puddles. Those who like to get their nose to the ground will get to investigate every smell without interruption. And for those who like water…well, its England and we are never short of that !!

Your dog should ideally have some basic understanding of the universal instructions of leave, sit, stay and recall.

No. of Dogs Week Days Weekends
One £14 £18
*Two £25 £25
*per dog 2+ £8 £10

* Dogs must be from same household and at the same pick up point.

SATURDAY  TREK

Duration: 3 hours approximately

This walk is New Forest bound. I can head out from Deer Leap or Ringwood direction. This is a great choice for anyone who can give their dog regular but short walks during the week but desire to make-up on exercise and stimulation for their pet at the weekends.

The trek is designed, in general, for dogs with plenty of stamina. However, I have had all types of dogs on this walk so don't sell your dog short. Most dog are so busy exploring and having fun that they don't notice the time or distance. It's only me checking my watch ! If your dog seems to have boundless energy, after this walk, the head will not raise at the sound of the word "walkies" until Wednesday of the following week !!!

This service includes the free pick up time and the drop off should be in or around this time. It depends on how much fun we're having ! But really, drop off time needs a little flexibility to consider weekend traffic.  I will text each client with an ETA unless I have a key for dropping off.

Cost : £30 per dog

Bitches in Season

A lot of companies will not take bitches in season due to the boisterous nature of group walks where there would be a mix of male and female dogs and unwanted attention from male dogs within the group. It is simply not true that if I'm walking a bitch in season, I have male dogs appearing out of the woodwork from all sides. Most walks are completed unmolested by dogs from members of the public.  Bitches still need their exercise so I can arrange to include them within one of my group walks at my normal walk rate or provide a private, on lead walk . Please contact me for details.

Did you know...

A Kennel Cough Vaccination would be a good addition to your dog's heath regieme as it is prevelant in the UK. It is not essential for my group walks but is advisable particulary if your dog is a youngster or over 8 years.

I accept entire male dogs and  bitches in season on group walks (subject to assessment)

My poo bags are biodegradeable.

All dogs, by law, should wear a collar and a tag bearing the name and address of its owner.
